Ohio State Football: Should Buckeye fans want Harbaugh to leave TTUN?
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has dominated their rivalry over TTUN for the last 20 years. They have lost only three times in that time span. Since Jim Harbaugh has taken over in Ann Arbor, the Buckeyes have beaten TTUN five times in six opportunities.
With the reports floating around that Harbaugh might be on his way to the NFL, Buckeye fans need to ask themselves something; is this a good thing? Do we want Harbaugh to leave this program that we have dominated the last half-decade?
Sure, Harbaugh finally broke through this year. He beat a more talented team. Ohio State was the more talented team on offense for sure, but they played too softly in order to win. Even with that win though, Harbaugh still has just a 1-5 record against the Buckeyes.
In my opinion, Harbaugh leaving would be bad for the Buckeyes. I don’t want them getting a chance to get a coach who can actually beat Ohio State on a consistent basis. Having Harbaugh stay in Ann Arbor gives TTUN a chance to be pretty good most years and not elite.
Ohio State wants TTUN to be pretty good. That gives them a quality win every time they win that game. They don’t want them to be elite. An elite team can beat the Buckeyes more often. If Harbaugh leaves, TTUN has a chance to be an elite team.
Other Ohio State football fans might have a different opinion. The problem is that I think that Harbaugh is leaving for the NFL this offseason. I don’t think I’m going to get my wish of him staying. I think this one win against Ohio State is all he’s going to get before moving on.
This next week is going to be very interesting. Once the NFL regular season is over, we’re gonna learn every quickly whether or not Harbaugh is leaving.
