The Ohio State basketball team will hopefully be back to playing games on Tuesday. It will be the first game they’ve played in about two weeks because of COIVD issues within the program. When they do come back, Chris Holtmann will have some tough decisions to make.
Holtmann will have to decide who gets some playing time whenever the team is able to play again. There can be some tough decisions once Justice Sueing and Seth Towns come back. Even before both of them come back, there will be hard choices for Holtmann.
The Buckeyes have plenty of capable players who seemingly deserve playing time. Eugene Brown is one of the players who seemingly isn’t getting back into the rotation. He missed a few games with a concussion, but then just committed a bunch of fouls against Wisconsin.
The problem for Brown is that the team was playing so well when he went out. That’s part of the reason why Jimmy Sotos hasn’t been getting much time. There are simply too many good players on this team. Joey Brunk has been losing time recently too.
Holtmann gets paid a lot of money to make these decisions. Some of these guys deserve to get more playing time. I’d like to see Brunk get a little more time. I’d just like to see someone else in the post eat minutes when Zed Key or E.J. Liddell gets in foul trouble.
I’m very interested to see what Holtmann does with the rotation when Big Ten play starts. After the New Orleans game on Tuesday, Big Ten play resumes again. That will tell us just how good this team is, even though the Big Ten isn’t as good of a conference this year.
