Ohio State Football: 3 not obvious players who could leave early for NFL
By Ryan Stano
Nicholas Petit-Frere has been really good at tackle for the Buckeyes the last couple of seasons. He was really good as a left tackle this past season. In fact, he was named First-Team All-Big Ten this season for his play. He came in as a highly-regarded recruit and has lived up to the billing.
Petit-Frere may not be projected as a first-round pick this year, but he could be a high second-rounder. Not only has his production been good, but his physical stats are impressive too. He has all of the physical tools to succeed at the next level no matter where he is picked.
If being a first-round pick is a priority for Petit Frere, he very well could decide to come back for his senior season in 2022. A good year next season would solidify his status as a first-round talent for sure. He’d be one of the top tackles in the entire Draft next season.
Of the three players on this list, I actually think Petit-Frere has the best chance of any of the players on this list to leave for the NFL after the Rose Bowl. He’s the most talented and has the best resume of the three players here. He’s got the best chance to surprise people at the next level.
In fact, I might actually be a bit surprised if Petit-Frere decides to come back to Ohio State for next season. He is a good player and tackle is a position of need every single year. If someone were to take him in the second round this year, that could end up being a great pick for that team.
We’ll find out what all of these players decide to do once the Rose Bowl is over.
