The Ohio State football team just signed a bunch of recruits for the 2022 season. All of the young players are excited to start next season. But the Buckeyes just got someone on their team that should give them an immediate boost who is already very familiar with the program.

Cameron Brown has decided to return to Ohio State next year. That means the Buckeyes will have both starting cornerbacks back for next season. Brown did a great job playing next to stud freshman Denzel Burke. Now Brown will be back for 2022.

Having Brown come back probably has a lot to do with the Eli Ricks situation. The Buckeyes likely gave up the pursuit of Ricks when they learned that Brown was going to be back. The coaches love Brown and like what he does out there on the field.

Brown had the best season of his collegiate career in 2021, recording 22 tackles and an interception. While he didn’t have as many big plays as Burke did, once he got fully healthy he was effective. It did seem to take Brown a little bit of time to get himself back into the swing of things.

In 2022, Brown should be even better because he is fully healthy now and got his legs back underneath him this year. This should help a secondary that was extremely suspect at times this season. Corner won’t be a problem position for Ohio State though.

I’m very interested to see how the rest of the secondary fill out under new defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. I wonder who he will put back there for his specific scheme. Of course, we won’t find that out until September 3rd of next season. We still have one more game in this season.

Next. NIL is here, teams need to adapt. dark

The Ohio State football program is happy Brown is back, and they should be.
