The Ohio State football team was able to sign most of their commits today during the early signing period. They got most of the prospects that they thought they would. Unfortunately, they didn’t get all of the players that they were expecting to.

Ohio State lost Terrance Brooks to Texas. Brooks is a four-star cornerback from the state of Texas. He is close with Quinn Ewers and decided to follow him to Texas. It is the second cornerback recruit that the Buckeyes have lost in the last few months.

The secondary is one of the weakest parts of this Ohio State football roster right now. They only have one great player back there, and that is Denzel Burke. While Ronnie Hickman came on a bit towards the end of the season, they still only have that one stud.

While Brooks isn’t a blue-chip recruit, he could still have developed into a pretty darn good player. The Buckeyes just don’t have enough of those in the secondary. While the Buckeyes did sign two other cornerbacks in this class, they missed out on the best one.

It remains to be seen how the cornerbacks that are already on the roster develop in the offseason. They need someone to step up besides Burke in the passing game. He is the only one that deters quarterbacks from throwing his way. They need another corner like that.

We’ll see how good Brooks ends up being at Texas. He still has to prove that he can be as good as his recruiting profile billed him to be. Even so, this is one recruit the Ohio State football program wanted and should have been able to keep.
