The Ohio State basketball team always seems to make things a little more exciting than they need to be. That was the case again Wednesday night when they took on Towson in the Schott. In fact, Towson was only down by one heading into the second half.

Despite that, Ohio State was able to pull away midway through the second half and win by a decent margin, pulling it out 85-74. They once again did it with a balanced effort from everyone and strong contributions off the bench. That’s a good sign for this team moving forward.

Kyle Young was once again the best contributor off the bench. He had a game-high 18 points on 6-7 shooting, including 2-2 from three-point land. He is now shooting a scoring 47% from three this season. That’s easily a career-high. Young is becoming a true weapon from deep.

Speaking of weapons from deep, that’s exactly what Justin Ahrens was. Ahrens was blazing from behind the arc, shooting 5-10 from there. He had 16 points for Ohio State. He got hot in the second half and just kept shooting. When he shoots like this, the Buckeyes are very dangerous.

E.J. Liddell was average again in this one, but he didn’t have to be great. He added 15 points, but only took 6 shots from the field. He also had 7 turnovers, which is way too many. Liddell has to stop committing offensive fouls, which count as turnovers.

One thing I can say for sure about this team is that they play to the level of their competition. They’ve done that every game this season. Until they show me something different, I’m going to assume they’re going to do this every game they play.

Next. OSU won't be getting Eli Ricks. dark

That’s something that bit the Ohio State basketball team in the butt in the NCAA Tournament against Oral Roberts. It’s something they have to get fixed before March rolls around.
