The Ohio State football team Is hanging onto their CFP hopes by a thread. In fact, I personally believe they shouldn’t get in even if mass chaos does happen. I don’t think they deserve it after the two losses that they’ve had and how they’ve had them.

Even so, their playoff hopes are dimly alive. If you want this team to make the Playoff, there is a very specific scenario that you need to root for to happen this weekend. The first team you have to root for is Utah. They have to beat Oregon again Friday night.

If that happens, Buckeye fans then have to root for Baylor to beat Oklahoma State in the Big 12 Championship. A two-loss Ohio State matches up better against Baylor resume-wise. If Oklahoma State wins, the Buckeyes are definitely out of the CFP discussions.

Buckeye fans also have to root for Georgia to beat Bama by a lot. And I mean A LOT. Unless Bama gets absolutely destroyed, they would get in ahead of Ohio State, even with two losses. Even though they only have one quality win, the committee clearly respects them.

Cincinnati needs to lose too. Houston has to beat the Bearcats to eliminate them from contention. This might be hard for some Buckeye fans to do considering Luke Fickell was a Buckeye. But Cinci getting in would definitely keep the Buckeyes out.

The last thing Ohio State football fans need to root for, and I hate saying this, is for TTUN to win the Big Ten. If they beat Iowa, that eliminates the Big Ten from potentially getting left out entirely. TTUN needs to win to keep Ohio State’s hopes alive.

I am not confident at all that these things will happen. In fact, I have very little faith. Even if all of these things do happen, Ohio State still might get left out. That doesn’t mean I’m not going to root for this exact scenario.
