Following the Ohio State football team’s disappointing loss to TTUN on Saturday, the Buckeyes lost something else; a quarterback. Jack Miller announced on Twitter that he was going to seek other opportunities to play and was leaving the program.

Miller had a bit of a rough time with the program. That rough time started out during the Spring Game where he was battling for the starting job. He ended that game by clearly being the worst of the three quarterbacks. He was never quite the same after that game.

Miller lost the starting job and eventually lost the backup job too to Kyle McCord. Then Miller had his OVI arrest. After that arrest, it was pretty clear that he was going to end up elsewhere. There was nothing left for him here. He needed to move on.

This is the least surprising transfer move in recent memory. Miller had no hope of gaining any significant playing time. He was the fourth quarterback on the depth chart behind C.J. Stroud, McCord, and Quinn Ewers. It’s better for him to seek playing time elsewhere.

Like most Buckeye fans, I wish Mille nothing but the best in his future endeavors. I hope he can gain his confidence back and start somewhere else. He might be better suited for a G5 program. I’m not sure he’s quite good enough right now to start at another Power 5 school.

We will keep you updated on where Miller does eventually end up. It’s unclear when he will make his decision, but he does have some time. I wouldn’t expect him to rush this decision. He should take his time and find the program that’s right for him.

I’m sure he won’t be the only player to transfer out of the program before next season starts.
