Ohio State Football’s winning streak over TTUN ends
By Ryan Stano
It was never particularly close. The Ohio State Football team was supposed to come in motivated and prepared for a rivalry game they prepare for all season long. They were supposed to be the better, more physical team and have their way on offense.
Instead, Ryan Day seemed to put his tail between his legs with his play calling. Ohio State didn’t push the ball down the field enough and had too many pre-snap penalties. The refs were bad in this game for sure, but it wasn’t the deciding factor in the game.
Ohio State’s defense couldn’t stop Hassan Haskins. That’s why they lost The Game 42-27. He had 5 touchdowns in the game and 169 yards. TTUN has a team had a whopping 297 yards on the ground. They beat the crap out of Ohio State at the point of attack on both sides of the ball.
The Buckeyes didn’t make any adjustments. They had to settle for field goals early in the game, and that killed them. They were undisciplined, and that killed them too. Ohio State was Never in control of this game. It’s a bitterly disappointing way to end the season.
Ohio State will now play in some New Year’s Day bowl game that no one will care about. This team doesn’t get to play for a Big Ten Championship or a National Championship. They get to sit at home and watch their rival compete for both because they couldn’t focus enough at the snap.
This was by far the worst game that Day has ever coached. This game lays at his feet. He didn’t make any adjustments to stop the run. He let his defensive line get beat up all game long. He let his quarterback get beat up by defensive ends that were going against over-matched tackles.
This is the most painful loss I’ve seen Ohio State have in the last 6 years. I didn’t see this coming. I thought this team was better than this. Instead, everything they worked for haas come crashing down around them.
