The Ohio State football team didn’t know who it’s quarterback was going to be at the start of the season. There was a fierce camp battle between C.J. Stroud, Kyle McCord, and Jack Miller. Quinn Ewers came on to the scene a little too late to jump into the fight, but Stroud won the battle.

With Ewers on the roster now, it was unlikely that Miller was even going to be the backup next season. He was a candidate to transfer. Now that the news is out that he has been suspended following an OVI citation, his career with the Buckeyes is likely over.

Miller’s decent really started with a poor showing at the Spring Game. He was the worst of the three quarterbacks in all facets of the game and looked like there was a clear talent gap between him and the other two quarterbacks. You knew right there he wasn’t going to win the job.

Add this suspension to the mix and Miller is almost certainly going to transfer and look elsewhere for playing time next season. As a highly-touted recruit out of high school, there should be several options he has with lower-tier schools. Even some Power 5 schools could give him offers.

It’s unclear how long Miller will be suspended for this incident, but any suspension is bad for a player that was already buried on the depth chart. It would be best for him and everyone within the Ohio State football program that he moves on at the end of the season,

I hope MIller learns from this mistake and is able to have a successful collegiate career wherever he decides to go. I would be very surprised if he elected to stay in Columbus. That wouldn’t make a whole lot of sense to me at all.
