Ohio State Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Nebraska
By Ryan Stano
This might be my boldest prediction of the year. Despite the Buckeye defense forcing three crucial turnovers against Penn State, they still allowed a lot of yards. They still aren’t a particularly good defense. Quite frankly, they are still just average right now.
And yet, I still think they can hold Nebraska under 300 yards of total offense. I think Nebraska’s offense will play that poorly. This is an extremely bold prediction considering that the Cornhuskers average the second-most yards in the Big Ten, behind only Ohio State.
Nebraska averages 470 yards per game. I’m saying that the Buckeyes hold them to 170 yards fewer than that. If you’ve watched any Ohio State football this season, you know just how bold of a prediction this is. Trusting this defense is playing with fire.
One thing this defense has been able to do is force turnovers. I think they will force turnovers and keep Nebraska from having long drives down the field. Ohio State will dominate the time of possession, and that will keep the yardage output from Nebraska down.
Because of that, I don’t think that the Cornhuskers will come close to their normal offensive output. The Buckeye defense shows some signs of life and slows them down. That would actually be good to see because Nebraska’s offense is pretty good.
These are my bold predictions for this week. How many do you think I’ll get right?
