The Ohio State football team is riding high after a win over top-20 Penn State. They have won six straight games since losing in Week 2 to Oregon. They are ranked 6th in the AP Poll and 5th in the Coaches Poll. The first CFP rankings come out tonight though. Where will they be ranked?

Taking a look at the Polls right now, Georgia should be the clear number one. They are the undefeated leader in the SEC. They deserve that ranking. Having them be elsewhere in these first CFP rankings would be a surprise, and quite frankly, a disgrace.

After that, it gets a little tricky. Personally, I think Michigan State deserves to be 3 right now. They have the best win of any of the top contenders after knocking off Michigan last week. They are still undefeated and play in the toughest division in college football.

Cincinnati should be three. They hold the second-best win of any of the top contenders after winning at Notre Dame. They are undefeated as well, even if they don’t play as tough of a schedule as the Spartans do. So where does that leave Ohio State in the rankings?

In the first rankings, I would have Ohio State 6th. Oklahoma, who doesn’t look impressive and will almost certainly lose a game before the season ends, should be fourth right now. Oregon, who has an easy schedule the rest of the way but still struggles with bad teams, should be fifth.

Oregon gets the nod over the Ohio State football team because of the head-to-head win in the Shoe. That’s only fair. While Ohio State has better wins than Oregon otherwise and played a tougher schedule, that result is hard to ignore.

Does this mean Ohio State is in trouble? I don’t think so. Alabama should lose to Georgia in the SEC Championship to knock them out. Ohio State and Michigan State play each other so an OSU win knocks out the Spartans. They just need some help from Oregon to lose a game, and maybe Oklahoma too.

We’ll see how it all shakes out tonight at 7 pm!
