The Ohio State football team scores 49.3 points per game

Another big part of how this offense has been effective goes way beyond the yards that they gain every game. Yards don’t mean anything if you can’t put up points with those yards. The Buckeyes don’t have any issue with that, as they score the most points in the country.

The Buckeyes score 49.3 points per game. That’s four more points than the second-place team, which is Alabama. The next closest Big Ten team is TTUN. They score just 37.7 points per game, which is still good enough for 14th nationally.

That’s still a 12-point gap between the Buckeyes and TTUN! That’s a huge gap between two teams that are supposedly the two best teams in the conference. If Ohio State can continue to put points up like that, there’s no reason they can’t compete in the CFP.

Ohio State doesn’t just put up points, they do it quickly. They have a truly explosive offense. No better example of that is in Week 1. They didn’t have more than 5 plays in any drive that they scored a touchdown in against Minnesota. Ohio State took their will by scoring that quickly.

Taking the will of an opponent is very important. It makes the opposite team realize they don’t even belong on the same field as them. Ohio State’s offense makes a lot of teams feel like that. I’d be surprised if they didn’t keep making teams feel like that too,

Our final stat has to deal with the defensive side of the ball.
