Ohio State football keeps the train rolling to the playoffs.

The Ohio State Buckeyes earn the #2 seed in the College Football Playoffs.

I think a lot of people are going to be surprised at the initial college football playoffs rankings. From where I sit, I see Georgia at the top with Alabama and Ohio State fighting for the second spot. Then there is a huge drop. I think the committee reflects that.

At the end of the season, the winner of the SEC will take the overall top spot, but a streaking Buckeye team will be an easy pick in the second spot. There are some teams that could go undefeated (Oklahoma, Cincinnati) and I still think Ohio State slots in as a better team.

Ohio State wins the National Championship.

The matchup I think is going to happen is Georgia and Ohio State both winning their semi-final games and moving on to play in the National Championship. This is the game the country wants right now.

The number one offense going against the number one defense. The SEC vs. the Big Ten. Two teams not named Alabama or Clemson (love to see it by the way).

I think this is a great game on paper and the result would be a good game on the field. Ultimately at that point in the season, I just don’t see Georgia having the firepower on offense to keep up. Yes, they have an elite defense. But, even with 75% of their usual production, the Buckeyes would still put up 264 passing yards, 155 rushing yards, and 37 points.

Even with those numbers, I cannot see Georgia getting 40 points against an improved Ohio State defense. This offense is going to carry this team far, and I believe it will carry them all the way.
