Ohio State Football: 3 bold predictions vs. Indiana
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has five sacks
This is the bold prediction that I believe in the least. As I mentioned before, the defensive line has had its struggles getting to the quarterback. The Buckeyes also don’t blitz a ton, so the sack totals have been less than stellar so far this season based on the amount of talent they possess.
Even so, the ingredients are there for a performance like this. Getting five sacks sounds like a lot, but it can be done. The secondary has done a much better job of winning their individual battles. Winning those battles means the potential of having some coverage sacks.
Coverage sacks are perhaps the easiest and best way for Ohio State to get some sacks right now. They don’t win a ton of individual battles up front. That is excluding Haskell Garrett, but he will likely be double-teamed the entire game.
I could see Garrett and J.T. Tuimoloau winning some individual battles and getting some sacks. I could see Tyleik Williams doing the same thing. Those are the three main candidates to wind up with sacks on the defensive line base don winning battles at the line of scrimmage.
Winding up with five sacks would also almost guarantee an Ohio State victory. Those sacks would put Indiana behind schedule and knock their offense totally out of rhythm. That’s something they can’t afford to have happen with such a talented team on the other side.
If even one of these bold predictions comes true, that means it was an easy victory for the Buckeyes. I hope all three of them happen!
