The Ohio State football team has been playing some great football over the last few weeks. They also were off this week. They got to sit at home and get healthy while other teams had issues. That is especially true with Iowa losing to Purdue on Saturday.

That loss has now helped the Buckeyes jump into the top five in the polls. They are just one loss away from one of the teams in front of them of being a CFP team. Even if they don’t get a loss from a team in front of them, they would likely make it as long as they win out.

Iowa losing was certainly unexpected. Purdue is a very bad team, although they clearly are capable of making big upsets. The Ohio State football team knows that more than anyone. They play Purdue this year for the first time since their 2018 loss to them.

In all honesty, it probably would have been better for Ohio State if Iowa had won out. Having the Buckeyes beat a top 5 team in the Big Ten Championship Game would have solidified them a CFP spot. Even so, it’s never a bad thing when Ohio State moves up in the polls.

Watching a team like that lose will help the Buckeyes stay focused on an inferior opponent like IU this week. That’s who they have on Saturday. The Hoosiers haven’t had the type of season that they wanted, but they would love to score an upset.

WE’ll see how the Buckeyes react this week now they are back in the top five. They haven’t been that high in the polls since their loss to Oregon.
