Four Week 7 games to watch on Ohio State football’s bye week
By Riley Thomas
#11 Kentucky at #1 Georgia
Kentucky at Georgia is one of only two games this weekend with ranked opponents facing off, the other being Oklahoma State at Texas. These are the top two teams in the SEC East by a wide margin, yet the Bulldogs are heavily favored according to WynnBET.
The large spread is likely since Georgia is home and the Wildcats are probably overrated. Kentucky has basically been given the benefit of the doubt for being in the SEC, as they have only beaten Missouri, Chattanooga, and South Carolina all by one possession.
Furthermore, Kentucky only has one truly impressive win with their seven-point victory against Florida. Still, this game could be interesting. Personally, I am not a believer in Georgia’s offense right now. Kentucky comes into Athens, Georgia with a good defense statistically. As in past seasons, the Dawgs might have a hard time scoring if the Wildcats can slow down the run.
Kentucky does have some good running backs with a good offensive line. They also have a dangerous receiver in Wan’Dale Robinson, the former Nebraska Cornhusker and OSU recruiting target. The Wildcats’ o-line has dominated at times this season, Georgia’s defensive front seven could become even scarier with another great game against Kentucky.
Just like the Alabama and Oklahoma game, this game could impact the College Football Playoff. This of course matters to the Ohio State football team that wants to win a national title. If Kentucky pulls off a shocker, they will be in the playoff debate going forward sitting at 7-0.
This Saturday could still be entertaining for Buckeye fans even on a bye week. It is safe to assume one of the listed games will be a great game with three underdogs having home-field advantage. Ohio State can check out some future Big Ten opponents in Indiana and Michigan State, and watch some potential playoff contenders as college football Saturday rolls on.
