Ohio State Football won’t get help this week
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team won’t be playing this weekend. They have their bye week scheduled directly at the half-point of their schedule. They will be using this week to get themselves rested and healthy before they get into the real meat of their schedule.
While they will be doing that, most of the other teams around them in the polls will be playing on Saturday. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like they will be getting help from any of those teams in the form of losing a game because they all play fairly weak opponents.
Number 3 Cincinnati plays UCF this weekend. They will easily win that game. There’s no reason to think that UCF will put up any sort of fight. The same goes for #2 Iowa as they face Purdue. This game is a bit different though because it would actually help the Buckeyes if Iowa wins.
Oklahoma plays TCU on Saturday. While they have some quarterback turmoil going on, TCU has too bad of a defense to stay in this game. The same goes for Mississippi State’s defense going against Alabama. There’s also no way that Nick Saban loses to two unranked opponents in a row.
Really the only team that the Buckeyes could possibly get help from is Georgia. They play #11 Kentucky on Saturday. The problem with that is that it’s at Georgia. I don’t think Kentucky can win this game on the road against a defense like the Bulldogs have.
It doesn’t really matter if the Ohio State football team doesn’t get any help this weekend. As long as they win out, they should control their own destiny in returning to the College Football Playoff. It would just be nice if they could sit out a week and have some chaos happen around them.
