Ohio State Football: 10 bold predictions for OSU vs. Maryland
By Alex Austin
The defense is starting to heat up for the Buckeyes.
Ohio State will have three forced turnovers
Maryland had a tough time holding on to the ball last week against Iowa, throwing for six interceptions and losing a fumble. While I don’t think it is going to be that bad, I do think Ohio State is able to feast.
The scenario I see as most likely is that Maryland tries to force things. Coming off such a bad outing, and playing Ohio State in Columbus, the Terrapins know that they will need to score lots of points to have a chance, but the mental blocks will be too much. Forcing the ball too many times will end up costing Maryland.
The Buckeyes are able to get two sacks
I think Ohio State puts a bigger emphasis on getting to the quarterback. Freshmen are going to get their chance to play, and that hunger to prove themselves will translate into sacks. The Buckeyes have underwhelmed on the defensive line so far this year, but I think they start to make positive strides in this game. The pass rush is the biggest piece of Ohio State’s game that needs to improve before they hit the heavyweights of the Big Ten, so look for the Buckeyes to try different formations and blitzes to see what works.
