Ohio State Football controls its own destiny
Despite a disappointing loss in Week 2 to Oregon 35-28, the Ohio State football team heads into Week 6 in control of their own destiny.
The Buckeye offense is arguably the most dynamic offense in the country. Averaging 555.6 yards per game, 2nd most in the country behind Pittsburgh, the Buckeyes have more than enough playmakers to keep them a CFP contender throughout the remainder of the season.
QB C.J. Stroud threw for 330 yards and 5 touchdowns in a 52-13 win against Rutgers on Saturday. Freshman RB sensation TreVeyon Henderson continues to shine each week providing the Buckeyes with a running threat along with their already dominant WR corps.
Following the Oregon loss, it was evident that the Buckeyes defense needed to improve. After Coach Ryan Day made some adjustments in personnel play-calling, the Buckeyes defense has shown some improvement over the last 3 games. This defense will be the big question mark going forward for the Buckeyes as they try to make a run for the CFP.
Despite all the critics, the Buckeyes are still in control of their own destiny. With #3 Iowa and #4 Penn State both atop of the Big Ten, the Buckeyes will face the Nittany Lions on Saturday, October 30th in Columbus.
With games remaining against #4 Penn State, #11 Michigan State, #9 Michigan, and a possible Big Ten Championship Game matchup against #3 Iowa, the Buckeyes can make a run that will punch their ticket to the College Football Playoff. That would earn them respect as one of the top teams in the country with one of the best resumes in the country.
It would be a comeback that is reminiscent of the 2014 season when the Ohio State football team was able to win it all after losing early in the season. We’ll see if that’s something they can achieve once again.
