Who is going to be the starting quarterback for the rest of the season for the Ohio State Buckeyes?

Over the last few weeks, there was a lot of talk about a quarterback controversy brewing in Columbus. C. J. Stroud was being questioned as the starter with Kyle McCord pushing for playing time. Last week Stroud was rested to give McCord an extended look at the starting job.

After the Akron game, it is clear there is no controversy.

McCord looked good. He overcame a shaky first series to hit his receivers, move the offense, and help his team win the game. But in order to take of Stroud, he was going to need to be spectacular. McCord was good, but he gave no reason to say he absolutely has to be the starter moving forward.

Stroud has now had a whole week to rest his arm which will hopefully help him relax and feel confident in hitting his throws. The biggest factor is that Stroud and McCord looked fairly comparable in terms of overall skill level. McCord did it against Akron, while Stroud has performed well against Minnesota, Oregon, and Tulsa.

Moving forward I fully expect Stroud to be given the reigns and to not look back. He is the starter for the rest of the season, and with a healthy arm, I think he makes a statement against Rutgers that he is the best quarterback on this roster.
