The Ohio State football team is coming off a big 59-7 win against the Akron Zips. Even though they won by such a large margin, they fell one spot in the polls. While that doesn’t make a lot of sense, they have a chance to impress pollsters this week against Rutgers.
This will be the start of the meat of the Big Ten schedule for the Buckeyes. They already played Minnesota to start the season so this will be their second conference game. It will also be their hardest game since they face Oregon in Week 2 and their first road game since that Minnesota game.

The Week 5 betting odds on WynnBET have the Buckeyes sitting at a 15.5 point favorite. That has to be based on the fact that Ohio State looked so good last week and Rutgers lost to Michigan. The over/under in this game is 56.5 as of right now.

It’s going to be a very interesting week around the Buckeyes. It’s unclear who the starting quarterback will be. C.J. Stroud sat out against the Zips and Kyle McCord started the game. Even though I think McCord gives Ohio State a higher ceiling, my guess is that Stroud will start.
Who starts at quarterback will be a big topic of discussion all week and will certainly have an impact on the odds. No matter who starts for the Buckeyes, they should win this game. I think the number is pretty close to right on though.

Give me the Buckeyes winning 38-24. I don’t think they are truly threatened in the game, but some sloppy play keeps Rutgers closer than the experts think.
