The Ohio State football team is in somewhat of a crisis mode right now. For all the talent that they have on their roster, they still can’t win games the way that they should. The defense has taken a lot of flack, and deservedly so. But they aren’t the only reason why the Buckeyes are struggling.

On offense, the passing game has been quite uneven. C.J. Stroud‘s numbers don’t look that bad when you look at them on paper. 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions through 3 weeks? What’s the problem? There are actually quite a few of them if you ask me.

I wrote that Stroud needed to improve on some things before the Oregon game. He didn’t, and that’s why the Buckeyes lost that game. Even though he threw for almost 500 yards, he still didn’t hit open guys when he needed to. The offense couldn’t score points early or late in the game.

There are three main reasons why Stroud needs to sit and Kyle McCord needs to take over. I believe McCord is the quarterback that is in the best shape to take over this offense in the middle of the season. He has the strongest arm and is the backup to Stroud right now.

Ryan Day has been reluctant on the idea of changing quarterbacks. Stroud is young and is in his first year as a starter still. Growing pains were expected. But something has to be done at the most important position on the field to get this team going.

The first reason McCord should start has to deal with Stroud’s health.
