Would Will Muschamp consider being the Ohio State Football team’s new defensive coordinator?News Joshua L Jones /

Will Muschamp has bounced around a bit in his college football coaching journey. He has been a defensive coordinator at Auburn, Texas, and LSU. He has also been a head coach at Florida and South Carolina and is currently an analyst at Georgia.

Say what you will about his record as a head coach. It hasn’t gone great for him in that regard. But his defenses have always been stout. His Florida teams finished top 12 in the S+P in the four years he was there. That’s pretty strong play.

Would Muschamp head up North where he has never coached? That’s the question. But he would get to be on a team that competes for a national championship every year. A good performance with the Buckeyes would also give him a chance at another head coaching job in the future.

Muschamp seems the most unlikely of the three people I have on this list. He doesn’t fit the mold of what Ryan Day likes in coaches. He also seems very happy down South, so I can’t see him moving to Columbus, Ohio where it snows for four months out of the year.

The final man on this list is very familiar with the Buckeyes’ defense. In fact, he was on staff just one year ago.
