The Ohio State football team was not able to get the job done, listing their opening non-conference game against Oregon. Here are the winners and losers of the game for the Buckeyes.

This was not the way Ryan Day was hoping the beginning of Ohio State’s season would go. Starting the year with two difficult games would surely challenge the team, but the hope was that getting through that into a manageable stretch would give the Buckeyes needed experience.

A closer game than expected to Minnesota has now been followed by the first regular-season loss in the Ryan Day era. Oregon took it to the Buckeyes and controlled the game from beginning to end. This was not a result that Ohio State lost a lot of breaks, they were just outplayed for the majority of the game.

In a unique situation where a loss does not mean the end of the season, Ryan Day and the Buckeyes have a few weeks where they should be able to work on improvements, before the heart of the Big Ten season. Changes will have to occur if Ohio State wants to keep all its goals ahead of them.

Before looking too far ahead, here is a look back at the winners and losers for the Buckeyes against Oregon.
