Normally, when the Ohio State football team visits Minneapolis to take on the Golden Gophers it’s very cold. The last time the Buckeyes went up there to take them on, it was a snowy day when J.T. Barrett and company walked out of Minnesota with a win.

Since this is the first week of the season, there will be no snow. Rain is a concern this time of year though. Rain would actually hurt the Ohio State football team more than Minnesota because they wouldn’t be able to see what they have in C.J. Stroud quite as much. They need to tune him up before Oregon comes to town next week.

As far as what the weather looks like in Minneapolis for tonight, it will end up being about as good of a night for football as you can ask for as far as the temperature is concerned. It will be about 69 degrees at kickoff and will only drop to about 66 degrees by the time the game ends.

Unfortunately, rain is a concern. The further the game gets into the second half, the higher the chances are that rain comes in. In fact, there’s a pretty good chance that this game ends with some precipitation. I’d be surprised if there isn’t any rain at all.

The good thing for the Buckeyes is that they should have control of the game before the weather has a chance to turn. Inclement weather would give Minnesota a greater chance to pull off an upset. They don’t have the talent to keep up with Ohio State without some help.

Even if the rain does come and is heavy at times, it shouldn’t come soon enough to drastically affect the game. Of course, this post is coming out 12 hours before kickoff. The weather could change by then if Minnesota weather is anything like Ohio weather.
