Ohio State Football: Bold predictions for OSU vs. Minnesota
By Alex Austin
Ohio State rolls to their first win of the season
The Buckeyes are the better team on paper. Minnesota is going to have to have a lot of things go right (turnover battle, explosive passing plays, making Stroud look bad, controlling the clock with a powerful rushing attack) in order to pull off the upset. Minnesota will not win this game unless they play A-level football and Ohio State plays below their potential.
On the other side, Ohio State can win in all kinds of ways. They could win passing, rushing, defensive, or any combination of those. Frankly, they are just the better team. Even if certain areas of the Buckeyes do not put their best foot forward, this is a team that can beat you in many different ways. They have the benefit of knowing they need a decent performance to get the job done.
Ryan Day has never given Buckeye Nation reason to doubt that he will have this team prepared and ready to go. Building confidence before a big matchup with Oregon would be a huge bonus for this young team, and Day knows how to get his guys in the right position to win.
Minnesota might hang around for a quarter, but I cannot find a way where this game stays close unless Ohio State looks completely lost.
