The Ohio State football team plays Minnesota in just two days. We all know that it will be the first game that both teams have played in front of a stadium full of fans in two years. It will be fun to watch the Buckeyes play a year after playing for a national title.

With just over 48 hours left before kickoff, it’s time to make some predictions about how the game is going to pan out. We have been looking at different aspects of the game for the last week or so. Now we really dive into how we think the game is going to turn out.

Ohio State football fans shouldn’t freak out if there is a little bit of a slow start. It’s something I expect to happen. With a new quarterback starting his first career game, I expect some things to take time to click. C.J. Stroud has to get some chemistry with his receivers in a game setting.

That initial lack of chemistry could lead to the Buckeyes struggling through the first quarter. I wouldn’t be surprised if they only score 7 or 10 points in the first quarter. Minnesota could keep it close to. I wouldn’t be surprised to see the game tied after one quarter of play.

Game prediction: Ohio State 49 Minnesota 21

In the end, Ohio State just has too much talent. They will pull away late in the second half when the talent on the depth chart really starts to show. Minnesota will still likely be able to put up points on the Buckeye defense though with all of the new starters they have in the back seven.

Any win is a good win. I think this game will be important in terms of the Buckeyes getting acclimated with each other before the Oregon game in Week 2. I’m not sure if Kyle McCord or other backups will get a lot of playing time in this game because of how the game will play out.

Ryan Day will have his team fired up and ready to go. This should be a stress-free win for the Buckeyes to start out their season.
