The Ohio State football program starts its season in just a few days. Before that game starts, we still have a few questions that need to be answered regarding the personnel. One of those questions has to deal with which running back will carry the ball the most on Thursday night.

Master Teague is the incumbent back with the most experience. He starts this season off completely healthy, unlike last year. He had his moments in 2020 and will get a lot of carries this season. But will he be the starter? Or will he get the most carries Thursday night if he doesn’t start?

The other back in position to possibly get both of those things is stud freshman TreyVeon Henderson. Henderson has made a real push in camp for the starting job. If he doesn’t get the start Thursday night, I think he has a really good chance of getting the most carries of any back.

Miyan Williams will also likely see some time. I think he’s probably a distant third behind both Teague and Henderson though. Most of his carries would likely occur later in the game if it ends up being the blowout that many people are anticipating.

Henderson getting the most carries is the ideal scenario for the Buckeyes. He is the most talented running back they have and has the potential to be a true superstar in the backfield. Getting him the most work possible early in the season is necessary so that he can blossom when they really need him.

Ryan Day will know which of his backs is the most impressive. We also know that Day loves to run the ball. The offense will be predicated on that run game, so whoever gets the most carries will be the focal point of the offense all season long.

If I had to guess right now, I would have to say that it’s Henderson who gets the most work in Minnesota.
