A new tradition was started last season within the Ohio State football program where one player gets to wear #0 after being voted on by his teammates and coaches. We know who will wear that this year.

The Ohio State football program has many traditions surrounding it. One of the traditions is more new than some of the others. In fact, it’s brand new and was just started last season. That tradition is having one player wear #0 and calling it “the block O”.

Last season, Jonathon Cooper got to wear it first. He lived up to it and played well at defensive line. This year, we now know who will wear that jersey. It’s going to be offensive lineman Thayer Munford, who shared the good news of this on Twitter.

Munford is definitely deserving of this honor from his teammates and coaches. He selflessly asked to move to guard so that Dawand Jones could start at tackle. Munford is one of the best tackles in the country. To want to do that speaks to how high his character is and how much of a team-first guy he is.

Munford will still likely thrive in his new position. If he does, he could end up being a pretty high draft pick for next season. It will be a little weird seeing an offensive lineman wearing #0 out there. But at the same time, it’s cool that Munford gets this honor.

Ohio State fans will love watching big #0 block on the left side of the line this season. He’s going to be great.
