Justin Fields’s first half making Matt Nagy look dumb
By Ryan Stano
Justin Fields is starting the final preseason game today for the Bears. He looks in command and has once again shown why he deserves to start the regular season.
Former Ohio State superstar Justin Fields started the final preseason game for the Chicago Bears today. He’s trying to put out one more great performance before the regular season starts. He wants to show that he should be the starting quarterback over Andy Dalton.
We all know what he did as a member of the Ohio State football program. He was simply amazing. He’s been great so far in training camp and preseason too for the Bears. Everything I’ve heard from Chicago has been excellent in terms of reviews of Fields and his work ethic.
Fields has played well so in this game, but not quite as well as he had in previous games. He’s only gone 7/10 for 54 yards and a touchdown. He really didn’t get too many opportunities to throw the ball down the field early in this game. Fields did have two nice runs for 13 yards though.
In the last two minutes of the first half, Fields led the team down the field for a score looking in command of the offense. The drive ended on a nice rollout pass to his right for a touchdown. Fields has looked really good in this first half.
Fields’ dual-threat ability is part of the reason why he should get the starting job once the regular season starts. Not only does he have a rocket arm, but he has blazing speed. He can change the game at quarterback and open up Chicago’s offense and bring it to new heights.
Despite FIelds’ amazing potential, Matt Nagy seems stubborn to the very end. He is sticking with Dalton as the starting quarterback despite how good Fields has been. It seems like this is the hill he’s going to die on because he could be the first coach to get fired this year.
It’s a shame that Fields doesn’t have a more competent coach for this rookie season. He will get on the field at some point, and he will light it up just like he did for the Buckeyes. Selfishly, I wish he was drafted by the Colts. I guess I’ll have to settle for Carson Wentz.
