Ohio State Football could have historic offense in 2021
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team has one of the most talented rosters on the offensive side of the ball in recent memory. They could be historically good this season.
Offense was not the problem for the Ohio State football team last year. Between Justin Fields, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, and Trey Sermon, the offense really hit its stride late last season. It’s hard to believe, but their offense could be even better this season.
Olave and Wilson return to form one of the most dangerous duos in all of college football at the receiver position. In fact, all of their contributing receivers return except for Jameson Williams, who transferred to Alabama. Jaxson Smith-Njigba and Julian Fleming return as five-star guys too.
TreyVeon Henderson should be the starter at running back. He would give the Buckeyes another game-breaking back who can do it all. Henerson could end up being the key to this offense. He’ll need to help out C.J. Stroud, who is a first-time starter at quarterback.
Stroud is the biggest question mark, as we all know. Even so, the rest of the talent around him should help him put up some really good numbers. I’d be more surprised than not if both Olave and Wilson don’t go for 1,000+ yards receiving this season.
Having an offense with this much talent bodes well for them early in the year while the defense takes time to grow. The defense is what ultimately could hold Ohio State back from winning a national title, so the offense must carry the team until the defense gets themselves together.
With just one week away until Ohio State football, I can’t wait to see them take the field. I have so many questions that need answered. I’ll get a lot of them answered next Thursday night.
