According to Ohio State President Kristina Johnson, all students, faculty, and staff will need to have at least one dose of a COVID vaccine by October 15th.

The Ohio State football team was one of many teams across the country that was affected deeply by COVID. They were missing several players in the National Championship Game because of the protocols surrounding the virus. It looks like they won’t have to worry about that too much this year.

That’s because Ohio State President Kristina Johnson has now mandated that every student, staff, and faculty member has at least one dose of a COVID vaccine by October 15th. The university released a statement saying that this was in part due to the FDA approving the Pfizer vaccine.

This means that the entirety of the Ohio State football team will have to be vaccinated if they want to play this Fall. Theoretically, that should keep cases down on the team and mean that most of the players will be able to play in all of the games on the schedule this year.

Ryan Day had already mentioned that most of the team was vaccinated anyway, so this shouldn’t affect the football team that much. It is interesting how this will affect other Fall sports Ohio State has though because this is fairly short notice on receiving the vaccine.

I just hope that one day soon I don’t have to write anything about COVID anymore. I’m sick and tired of this virus as I know many of you are too. I can’t wait to be able to just write about football and basketball and all of the other Ohio State sports.
