Ohio State Football: Four biggest things to watch for in 2021
By Ryan Stano
Like everyone else, I am watching very closely how C.J. Stroud is going to play this season. With such a talented quarterback room, Stroud has a lot of pressure to perform well right away. If he starts out rocky, there will be calls to replace him.
It would be foolish for Day to do that though. He has to stick with Stroud through thick and thin, at least until the middle of the season. Stroud is extremely talented as a quarterback and should play extremely well behind such a beefy offensive line. A solid run game would help him too.
I’m more interested to see what Stroud’s ceiling is. Playing with so many great wide receivers should allow him to put up some pretty incredible numbers. I want to see how good those numbers can be and just how accurate he is down the field with some deep shots.
Stroud’s play might singlehandedly decide how far this team can go in the College Football Playoff. If he’s great, the Buckeyes are true national title contenders. If he’s bad, this team will get knocked out in the semi-final without too much trouble. He has a lot riding on his arm.
Those are the four main things I’m looking for from the team as a whole this season. I can’t wait until next Thursday when the season officially starts!
