Ohio State Football team names starting quarterback
By Ryan Stano
The Ohio State football team officially has a new starting quarterback. If you’re a fan of the team though, it won’t surprise you who Ryan Day named.
The quarterback battle has been the one positional battle that Ohio State football fans have been watching with the most interest. It was a three-way battle for a while, and then it surprisingly turned into a four-way fight once Quinn Ewers enrolled at Ohio State.
Ryan Day has decided who he wants to lead the team this Fall. It is C.J. Stroud’s job to lose as the head coach officially named him as the starter for this season. Stroud had been the favorite to win the job since Spring practice and was able to keep his lead through Fall camp.
Stroud has a wondrous opportunity in front of him. Being named a starter at this juncture means that if he plays well, he can hold onto the job for the next two seasons. He can hold off Ewers and Kyle McCord both if he puts up big numbers and keeps winning games.
Speaking of McCord, both he and Jack Miller are now candidates to transfer. I’d be surprised if one or both of them didn’t look elsewhere. Ewers knew he wasn’t going to be the starter this season after enrolling so late, but he is the highest-rated recruit in Ohio State football history. They want to keep him.
Miller has been the odd man out since a poor performance in the Spring Game. I’m sure he has a list of schools that he could consider going to. The problem is that both he and McCord will likely have to wait until the end of the season to leave now.
None of this is Stroud’s problem. All he is concerned with is playing well and winning games. It’s good to have the biggest camp battle finally settled.
