Unfortunately, the Ohio State football team lost a member of the team due to them suffering too many injuries.

Injuries are a part of football. They always have been. You can’t play a sport this violent and not expect to get hurt every now and then. Unfortunately, some players get struck with injuries more than others. Injuries were too much for one Ohio State football player for him to keep going with the game.

Roen McCullogh announced that he has medically retired from the Ohio State football program. He does so with a heavy heart after suffering a shoulder injury that required surgery. The backup long snapper has decided that the best thing for him to do is step away from the game.

McCullogh announced his tough decision to do so on Twitter.

McCullogh isn’t someone who was going to see the field very much this season, if at all. Even so, it sucks to have to stop playing the game you love because of something like this. Injuries are a tough thing to get over and can wear you down mentally as much as physically.

We wish McCullogh nothing but the best moving forward. I hope he gets healthy as quickly as he can so he can enjoy the remaining portion of his college career as a student. Prior to this shoulder injury, he was diagnosed with a heart condition as well.

As for the Buckeyes on the field, this won’t have much bearing at all on the depth chart moving forward. Long snappers are easy to replace. What won’t be easy to replace is McCullogh’s positivity and how much his teammates like him.

I’m sure McCullogh will still hang around his teammates and cheer them on!
