3 biggest potential trap games for Ohio State Football team
By Alex Austin
A familiar foe is back for Ohio State
The last trap game the Buckeyes ended up losing was in the last year of Coach Urban Meyer. Meyer was leading a team that (as always) had a lot of talent and high expectations but was struggling to put everything together. He was running a different kind of offense and was just looking for things to start clicking. A game against a weaker Purdue team seemed like the right time to reset. It was not.
Purdue destroyed the Buckeyes from start to finish and effectively kept Ohio State out of the playoffs because of how bad the loss was. Purdue is once again on the schedule.
To be fair, this feels like more of an emotional game than a true trap game. The Buckeyes will be at home with Michigan State the following week. Towards the end of the season, the new player will be fully assimilated into the team and everyone should be clicking.
But deep down there is a fear of Purdue. The Boilermakers have spoiled seasons before for the Buckeyes, and seeing them back on the schedule should cause all Ohio State players who were on the 2018 team to make sure the team is staying focused.
