Ohio State Football preseason depth chart projection
By Ryan Stano
The defense might be harder to project, but they still have a lot of talent on that side of the ball.
DE: Zach Harrison, Jack Sawyer
DT: Haskell Garrett
DT: Taron Vincent
DE: Tyreke Smith, J.T. Tuimoloau
LB: Dallas Gant
LB: Ke’Vaughn Pope
Bullet: Craig Young
DB: Sevyn Banks
DB: Cam Brown
DB: Marcus Willamson
S: Josh Proctor
There is a lot of room for movement on the defensive side of the ball, especially with the linebackers. None of the linebackers on the roster have any significant playing time so far in their careers. No one has a firm hold on a starting job right now.
Even the defensive backs listed here might not all be starters. The word on the street is that Demario McCall has actually looked decent so far. He might actually get some playing time, which would be shocking to me. It would be the third different position he’s played for the Buckeyes.
Obviously, there is still time for things to change before the season starts later this month. This is just the depth chart as I see it right now. In fact, I’d be shocked if I got it all right now. I will be doing another projection next week once more intel comes out of practice!
