Ohio State Football: Big Ten Preseason Predictions
By Alex Austin
The kings are back
Ohio State (12-0)
It is hard to imagine a scenario where Ohio State does not win the Big Ten East. They have shown that they have a talent gap on the rest of the Big Ten for the last several years. Even with a new quarterback, the Buckeyes should be able to retool quickly and roll through their schedule.
An improved defense and similar product out of the offense will make this team a favorite to return to the College Football Playoffs and National Title.
A big home game against Oregon in the second game of the season may be the biggest test as the new quarterback still works on timing and rhythm with the wide receivers. A road test at Indiana would usually bring some red flags but with the bye-week coming right before the Buckeyes will have plenty of time to prepare.
Perhaps the game most fans fear the most is playing Purdue. Not because of the level of competition but because of how the Boilermakers seem to have Ohio State’s number. With Ryan Day’s track record of getting his team ready to play, however, the Buckeyes should be able to win.
This season looks to be another where Ryan Day can build and grow his team throughout the season and have them prepared for the big games at the end of the season. Another undefeated Big Ten campaign for the Buckeyes looks likely.
