West teams in the hunt for a Bowl game

Minnesota (6-6)

It does not get more difficult than starting your Big Ten season in Week One against Ohio State. Luckily for the Golden Gophers, they have a trio of winnable non-conference matchups that could see them right the ship quickly before their next Big Ten game.

Minnesota could build some momentum going into the end of their season, but a difficult stretch at Iowa and Indiana followed by a home game against Wisconsin will see the Gophers limping into the bowls.

Purdue (6-6)

Purdue might surprise a lot of teams at how difficult they will be to put away. A difficult defense will help slow down some of the more powerful offenses and games against the Boilermakers could quickly turn into a dogfighting low scoring affair.

While this team will be able to stay in a lot of games, they may not have the firepower to eventually overcome the bigger teams on their schedule, but they may be able to find the unsuspecting team or two that gets caught looking ahead.
