Ohio State is in a unique position for the Buckeyes where they do not know who the quarterback will be come Fall. Here is a breakdown of all the candidates.

Ohio State has not had a completely open quarterback competition in a long time. Braxton Miller got hurt when J.T Barrett took over as a freshman. He primarily had the reins (not counting the weird year where he and Cardale Jones tied for the starting spot) after that.

After him, Dwayne Haskins quickly became the favorite and was the presumed starter early in the process. Once Justin Fields was cleared to start his first year, he was always going to win that job. This season the competition has for all appearances been open.

The primary battle has been between C.J. Stroud, Jack Miller, and Kyle McCord with Quinn Ewers making some late noise after foregoing his senior year of high school to join the Ohio State football program. All four quarterbacks have thrown the same number of passes at the college level – zero.

With the four quarterbacks all being young, eager, and talented, Ohio State has been able to have a true competition. Ryan Day has said he will be able to make a decision soon, which means the competition is winding down and one of these four is about to be the next in a line of great players.
