The former Ohio State football player is fighting for his NFL career with the Steelers. How did he do in his first preseason game with his new team?

Dwayne Haskins is fighting for his NFL career. The former Ohio State football player didn’t work out in Washington as a first-round pick. He got cut after just two seasons with the team. Now he’s trying to make a Steelers team that has two quarterbacks behind their starter who have a history with the team.

Haskins left a decent first impression on them in a game setting last night. Haskins was the second quarterback to play last night for the Steelers after Mason Rudolph. He is fighting with Rudolph for the backup spot behind Ben Roethlisberger.

Even though it was just preseason, Haskins still showed some stuff. He was 8/13 for 54 yards, so he wasn’t exactly pushing the ball down the field. He was efficient though, which is something that he was not in Washington. Accuracy was a big question mark with him.

Haskins didn’t really get a chance to uncork a deep shot. He did take one at the end of the first half that was incomplete because it looked like the receiver was just slightly held up. Haskins didn’t shine, but he also wasn’t awful. Not being awful is a step up from where he was at.

It will take time for Pittsburgh to decide what they have in Haskins. He has to show that he has grown up and matured from his time in Washington. He also has to continue improving on the field if he wants a crack at being Roethlisberger’s successor once he retires.

Next. Miyan Williams continues to excel. dark

I wish the former Buckeye nothing but the best. I hope he can revive his career and show that he was worthy of being a first-round talent in the NFL
