The new Buckeye quarterback will get tested early

What was slated to be one of the biggest non-conference matchups last year, Ohio State and Oregon will get a chance to meet early in the 2021 season. Rather than being a difficult road test, the new Buckeye quarterback (whoever that ends up being) will be able to have a home crowd behind them. But Oregon will be no easy win

The Ducks are expected to once again compete to win the Pac 12 North and are currently ranked #9 in the pre-season power rankings. This should be a top-ten matchup early in the season. Ohio State will only have one game before they face the Ducks for a new offense and a revamped defense to iron out any kinks.

While a loss this early in the season will not destroy the Buckeyes’ chances but it will make it so they cannot take another loss. Eventually (hopefully I’m wrong) the Buckeyes will end up losing a game against a Big Ten opponent.

In a year where the top three teams from last year will be breaking in new quarterbacks, the road to the National Championship seems more open than before. The journey will get an early test for Ohio State as they welcome the Ducks in the second game of the season.
