Ohio State basketball: Carmen’s Crew blows big lead

The group of former Ohio State basketball players weren’t able to close the deal as they blew a big second-half lead to lose in TBT.

Thad Matta did an incredible job as coach of the Ohio State basketball program. He is the winningest coach in program history and recruited a lot of great players along the way. Some of those players are now playing in The Basketball Tournament for $1 million.

Those players weren’t able to pull out a win to put themselves in the final eight. Carmen’s Crew fell 91-89. This was after the fact that an 18-point lead was shrunken completely at one point. In fact, they were down one late during the Elam Ending period. In the end, they weren’t able to come back.

David Lighty was really good in this one. He scored at will in transition and made some really smart cuts for easy buckets. In all honesty, the entire team played well offensively. They shot close to 60% from the field. it was the defensive side of the ball that was the problem.

Truthfully, the tide turned early in the fourth quarter when Aaron Craft came in. The ball seemed to not move as crisply and they left him alone on the three-point line. He isn’t a good three-point shooter, and The Money Team knew that. It killed Carmen’s Crew’s spacing.

After that, they weren’t able to find their rhythm. It was pretty hard to watch at some points being an Ohio State basketball fan. Now they are out and don’t have a chance to win the $1 million prize. They have to regroup and try to come back stronger next year.
