The Ohio State football team lost a four-star tight end when Benji Gosnell decided to de-commit.

It seems that not everyone is a fan of Ryan Day’s plan to throw the ball to the tight end more. After just saying he was trying to feed the ball to Jeremy Ruckert more this season, the Buckeyes lose a tight end commit for the class of 2022.

Benji Gosnell, a four-star tight end from North Carolina, tweeted out that he has de-committed from Ohio State and has now opened up his recruitment. He didn’t really give any sort of reason as to why he came to this decision, but now he will be looking at other programs.

In the grand scheme of things, this doesn’t kill the Buckeyes. They still have a tight end for this class in Bennett Christian. They can afford to lose a tight end to some other program. It certainly isn’t a position of need at the moment and probably won’t be next year either.

Even so, it’s never good when you lose a commit. It’s not great that he is deciding to go elsewhere at this point. Maybe the Buckeyes’ tight end room is suddenly more filled than he thought now that Gee Scott Jr. is also there? I’m sure we’ll learn of the real reason here in a few days.

Either way, this isn’t the type of news Buckeye fans like to hear. They still have the number one recruiting class in the country for that class though, so this isn’t a major blow to that class.  just wish any commit wouldn’t de-commit from Ohio State.

Next. Could Ohio State join the SEC?. dark

We’ll keep you posted on where he ends up going once he makes that decision.
