After another former Ohio State football player got a big contract extension in the NFL, playing for the Buckeyes is clearly the best thing you can do for your career as a defensive end.

Stop if you’ve heard me say this before; a former Ohio State football player signed a big contract extension in the NFL. Oh, wait you have heard that? Several times? Of course you have. That’s especially true if you play the defensive end position and head to Ohio State for your college ball.

Sam Hubbard, a former Buckeye defensive end, is the latest former Ohio State football player to sign a big extension. He just signed a four-year $40 million extension with the Cincinnati Bengals. That’s a lot of money for a third-round pick!

Hubbard was a third-round pick by the Bengals back in 2018. Since then, he’s been a really good player. He had 6 sacks as a rookie and 8.5 in his second season. Unfortunately, he dealt with some injuries last year and only recorded 2, but you see what he’s capable of.

The Bengals decided to reward him for what he’s already done and what he can do for them in the future. I think it’s a worthwhile investment for them. He is a really good young player who is great in the locker room. He is someone that the Bengals can build around on the defense.

Hubbard is now the second former Ohio State defensive end to sign a big contract extension in the past two years. Joey Bosa signed a huge extension just last season worth $135 million. His brother Nick is about to get a huge extension as well.

As you can see, it clearly pays to be a defensive end that attends Ohio State. Anyone who’s any good that doesn’t attend Ohio State is doing themselves a disservice.
