Go straight basketball power (more feasibly)

The other option to add to the Big Ten basketball capacity is taking from the best of the Big 12 (and rival).

Kansas has long been the best basketball program in the Big 12 and would bring a large amount of pageantry and tradition to the conference. Not to mention winning. There would be plenty of great showdowns between Kansas, Ohio State, Michigan, Indiana, and Michigan State that should bring them into the conference fairly quickly.

The other team that would make sense to bring along is Kansas State. While not nearly as good, the Wildcats tend to be average in football and basketball. Bringing them along would really just be about giving Kansas some support and a rival from day one.

With the Big 12 seen as the conference likely to have teams jumping ship the most, convincing these two would be much easier than North Carolina and Duke. This would also help Nebraska not feel as far removed from the rest of the teams in the Big Ten.

These are the additions I would be most excited to see join the Big Ten. The conference doesn’t need more quantity if they expand, they need quality. Are there other combinations you think would be a better fit to join the Big Ten and help add value to both the Ohio State football and basketball programs?
