The Ohio State football program already has the best quarterback in the country for the 2022 recruiting class. Now they have a chance at getting the second-best QB for 2023 too.

Imagine having two five-star quarterbacks in the same room. Clemson had that last year with Trevor Lawrence and D.J. Uiagalelei. Now they are set at QB for this year. The same thing could be said for the Ohio State football team really soon.

They already have Quinn Ewers coming in next season. He is the best recruit that Ohio State has ever had committed to them in program history. He is slated to either start next year or in 2023 if he does everything right. Now the Buckeyes could get one of the best in 2023.

Ohio State is one of the seven finalists for quarterback Malachi Nelson, who is the fifth-best prospect in the country and the second-best quarterback for the class of 2023. The other schools that have a shot at him are USC, Alabama, Florida State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, and LSU.

Nelson has a reason he’s highly rated. He’s the real deal. Nelson stands at 6’3 180 pounds and is from Los Alamitos, California. Nelson has a great arm and can make all of the throws that he needs to. It also seems that he’s a decent athlete at this stage too.

Nelson does need to put on some weight though. 180 pounds is very skinny at 6’3, especially at the college level. That shouldn’t be too hard as he matures in his final years in high school. Once he does that, he’ll be a lot harder to bring down in the backfield.

dark. Next. Is Craig Young the perfect fit for Bullet position?

Unfortunately, it looks like Nelson is a heavy lean towards Oklahoma at this point. Even so, it’s never over until it’s over. We’ll see what happens. Nelson will make his decision Sunday at 6 pm on CBS Sports HQ.
