Ohio State football: Fans will make big difference for OSU
By Ryan Stano
Last season, fans were not allowed to watch the Ohio State football team all year long. This year with stadiums at full capacity, the Buckeyes will get a big boost from the fans.
The Ohio State football team wasn’t able to have fans in Ohio Stadium in 2020 because of COVID. Because of that, they weren’t able to enjoy one of the best home-field advantages in all of college football. It obviously didn’t affect them that much because they won every game they played at home.
Fans will be back in the Shoe in 2021 at full capacity. That will help Ohio State play even better when they are at home than they did a year ago. Buckeye fans help them get juiced to play the entire game as hard as they possibly can. That effort was lacking late in some games last season.
One of those games, against Indiana, almost ended up in a loss. The Buckeyes had a 35-7 lead early in the third quarter and only ended up winning by seven points. I guarantee you that the Buckeyes wouldn’t have lost focus if they had fans in the stands for that game.
Fans also young teams feel better about themselves when things start to go wrong. Buckeye fans can help reassure players who haven’t been in that moment before. They can also help pump them up to play even more intensely as well when things do go well.
I can’t wait to be in the stands for every single home Buckeye game this season. I’ll also be able to go to the IU game in Bloomington as well. It’ll be good to see them play in person again.
