The Ohio State football team continues their hot streak with recruiting as they land another top recruit.

Ryan Day needs to add offensive line pieces to his 2022 top-rated recruiting class and has done just that. Offensive tackle George Fitzpatrick of Cherry Creek High School in Englewood, Colorado has committed to the Buckeyes a little more than a month after his official visit with them.

Fitzpatrick is a four-star player who is rated as the nation’s number 27 tackle. 247 Sports’ Director of Football Recruiting, Steve Wiltfong, said there is discussion of moving him higher in their rankings.

He also visited Texas A&M, Michigan, Oklahoma, and Oregon, but none could match his interest in Ohio State. Of the four predictions given by 247’s experts, all were done with a very high confidence level. Fitzpatrick committing to the Buckeyes was never in much doubt.

He stands at the classic tackle height of 6’6” and checks in at 285 pounds. I’d be very surprised if he does not redshirt this year and concentrate on refining his technique and adding weight. He becomes the second Colorado product in as many classes to join the Buckeyes. Tight end Sam Hart was part of the 2021 recruiting class.

Fitzpatrick is the second lineman to be added to the 2022 group. Tegra Tshabola of Lakota West High School in West Chester, Ohio has been committed since late April of 2020. Tshabola is a top-twenty tackle nationally. The Ohio State football program is hoping to add Kam Dewberry of Humble, Texas as well. He’s the nation’s number ten tackle.

Ryan Day and his staff continue to expand their westward recruiting by making further inroads in states the Buckeyes have never recruited historically. Player personnel director Mark Pantoni deserves a great deal of credit as well for planting flags in these previously uncharted territories.

Ohio State recruiting is now on a level the program has never before seen and will keep the Buckeyes in the thick of the national title chase each year.
